DTS Basics Practice Test

The "ActiveX Script Task" in DTS (Data Transformation Services) is designed to enable users to write custom scripts that can handle complex transformations of data during a data import or export process. This is particularly useful for cases where standard transformation options are insufficient or when specialized processing logic needs to be executed.

By utilizing ActiveX scripting within the task, users can implement intricate logic, perform calculations, or manipulate data in ways that go beyond the built-in capabilities of DTS. As a result, it provides significant flexibility and power in transforming and managing data according to specific business rules or requirements.

Other options, such as generating automatic reports or executing SQL queries, do not accurately reflect the primary purpose of the ActiveX Script Task, which is focused on scripting for transformation complexities. Similarly, managing package configurations relates more to controlling and setting up various DTS package properties, which is outside the scope of what the ActiveX Script Task is specifically intended for.
